On April 17, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ordered that the National Labor Relations Board be temporarily prohibited from enforcing the rule requiring employers to post a notice on employee rights under the NLRA. The order is temporary until the court can rule on the merits of whether the NLRB had authority to issue the rule in the first place. There is currently a split in the federal courts on the enforceability of the rule. The D.C. Circuit is scheduled to hear arguments in September. The posting requirement was scheduled to go into effect on April 30 but because of this order there is no need for employers to post the notice at this time.
On January 1, 2012, Ohio's minimum wage increased to $7.70 per hour for non-tipped employees and to $3.35 per hour for tipped employees. Ohio's minimum wage is higher than the federal minimum wage and applies to all Ohio employers grossing at least $283,000 per year. Employers subject to Ohio's minimum wage must post a 2012 Minimum Wage notice in a conspicuous place.
